How It Works

Base weight is everything except consumables (food, water, fuel) and worn items. Ultralight is under 10 lbs base weight, lightweight is 10-20 lbs. The "Big Three" (shelter, sleep system, pack) typically account for 60% of base weight — upgrade those first for the biggest weight savings.
