How It Works

Bear hangs need 50 ft of rope minimum to get food bags 12+ feet high and 6+ feet from the trunk. Use 2-3mm Dyneema for bear hangs (light, slippery, strong). Guy lines: 6 ft per stake point. Paracord (550 lb test) is versatile but heavy — consider Zing-It or Dyneema for ultralight setups. Always bring more cordage than you think you need.
